Alberto Kalach Taller de Arquitectura X (TAX), Mexico City
Alberto Kalach is an architect working in Mexico City. His concern about the emerging problems of the vast city is reflected often in his work, from the $5,000 USD minimal house, to his housing developments, or to the largest project ever conceived for Mexico City called México Ciudad Futura (Return to the City of Lakes), which embraces the city as a whole. His firm, Taller de Arquitectura X (TAX), acts as a lab, a greenhouse, and learning team to question, explore, and redefine space. The TAX team is devoted to transcending the unavoidable geographic, economic, and temporal constraints ingrained in every project and turn them into opportunities to build solutions that respect and celebrate the environment and its cultural context.
